rebetiko is a beauty. A dream of comic material makes the point about a place in history quite well known, the Turkish diaspora in Greece of General Metaxas. Rebet is what the Turkish Orthodox Christian living in exile in Greece, which survives in urban interlopers. Not really but bandit trader, living small strokes, and especially in our case and thus in the book Prudhomme, rebet is a fantastic musician. He sings the blues of the Balkans, the daily music that accompanies his bouzouki and whose verses reflect the love and bullshit of these little schemers, lovers and raki kiff. rebetiko recounts five men, five talented musicians whose talent is endless orgies throat and memorable. Prudhomme is the sharpness of delivering raw harshness of his characters: they are blood and bagareurs, riders and revelers, and obviously ill-bringueurs bedfellows, but the Devil! They are alive! And their music? One would swear to hear as you turn the pages. That book is a beauty.
Prudhomme's really neat desin, its colors and its division. He does not hesitate to take the dance of drunken solidarity shows the relationships love friendship that bind all these men. The music is there in the picture. And the emotions are overwhelming the reader when the image suddenly comes alive at the corner of a dive from a boat or macabre glitter of the blade of a knife. The kiffe, alcohol, music, men ... What a beautiful book.
